What is Correx?
Correx is a lightweight fluted polypropylene board commonly used for temporary signs and printed displays.
It is useful when you need something more substantial than a poster but do not necessarily need a heavier sign material intended for a longer term application.
Because it is lightweight, Correx works particularly well for projects where boards need to be moved, fitted temporarily or produced in several variations.
If you are comparing different types of signage, see our Display Signage service for an overview of the wider options available.
Where are Correx signs useful?
Correx is particularly useful when the message is important but the sign itself does not need to stay in place permanently.
Construction companies and tradespeople often use Correx for site information, temporary branding, parking instructions and directional signs. A contractor working at a customer’s property may also use a branded board to identify who is carrying out the work.
Events, schools and community organisations can use Correx for entrance signs, registration points, parking, directions and temporary notices. Several boards can follow the same design while carrying different messages, which helps the whole event look more organised.
Businesses may also need temporary signs during refurbishment, changes to customer access, short term promotions or seasonal activity. In those situations, Correx can be a practical alternative to producing a more permanent sign that may quickly become outdated.

Is Correx suitable for outdoor signs?
Correx is commonly used for temporary outdoor signage because the polypropylene board is resistant to moisture.
However, outdoor suitability depends on more than the material alone.
Board size, location, wind exposure, fixing method and how long the sign needs to stay in place should all be considered.
A small sign in a sheltered location has very different requirements from a larger board fixed in an exposed area.
If you are unsure, tell us where the sign will be used and what you need it to do. We can then discuss whether Correx is suitable or whether another material would make more sense.
Correx, Foamex or Dibond?
These materials can all be used for printed signage, but they suit different types of jobs.
Correx is particularly useful for lightweight and temporary signs.
Foamex provides a smoother, more solid rigid board and is commonly used for displays, information panels and general business signage. See our Foamex printing service.
Dibond, or aluminium composite board, can be considered where greater rigidity or a more substantial sign is required. See our Dibond printing service.
The easiest way to choose is to start with the job rather than the material.
If you need temporary directional signs for an event, Correx may be perfectly suitable. If you need a more substantial business sign, another rigid board may be more appropriate.
You do not need to choose the material before contacting us.
Artwork for Correx signs
Clear artwork matters with signage because people often need to understand the message quickly and from a distance.
Keep important wording easy to read and avoid trying to fit too much information onto the board.
Directional signs usually work best with a clear arrow, strong contrast and only the information the viewer actually needs.
If you already have print ready artwork, send it with your enquiry.
If you have your logo, wording and an idea but need help preparing the finished design, Printmonster also provides artwork and design support.
If you are unsure whether your logo file is suitable for larger print, our vector vs raster artwork guide may also help.
What should I send for a quote?
You do not need to know the technical specification of the board before getting in touch.
Where possible, send:
Approximate or finished size
Quantity
Where the signs will be used
Whether they will be indoors or outdoors
How long you expect to use them
How you intend to display or fix them
Artwork or logo files if available
The wording required
Your required timescale
If the sign needs to fit a particular location, a photograph can also be useful.
Based in Cannock, Printmonster works with businesses, tradespeople and organisations throughout Staffordshire and the wider West Midlands, including Walsall, Wolverhampton, Birmingham and surrounding areas.
