A floor can become part of the design of a space rather than simply something to walk on.
For this recent project, we produced and fitted custom printed floor vinyl for a customer who wanted something created specifically for their entrance area.
The design was set up to the customer’s specification, printed onto non slip floor vinyl and then fitted by the Printmonster team.
Creating the design to the customer’s specification
The customer had a clear idea of how they wanted the finished floor to look.
Our job was to prepare the design around their specification and make sure it was suitable for the space where the vinyl would eventually be fitted.
This is one of the advantages of producing custom graphics rather than relying on an existing off the shelf design. The artwork can be created around the individual project, subject to the practical requirements of the material and installation area.

Choosing vinyl designed for floor use
The material is an important part of any floor graphics project.
For this installation, we used a textured floor vinyl designed to withstand regular levels of foot traffic while providing an anti slip finish.
The material used for this type of application has been slip resistance tested in accordance with the relevant Slider 96 and UK Slip Resistance Guidelines, as well as DIN 51130:2014 testing. This helps make it suitable for appropriate indoor floor graphic applications where people will regularly walk across the printed surface.
Floor graphics still need to be considered in relation to the particular surface, location and intended use. Suitability and the condition of the graphic should therefore be considered throughout its use.

Printing the custom floor design
Once the artwork was ready, the design was printed onto the floor vinyl.
One advantage of custom printing is that the finished graphic can be created around the individual project. This might involve a decorative design, branding, information or another graphic created specifically for the space.
In this case, the customer wanted their flooring to have a distinctive appearance that suited their entrance rather than simply choosing a standard floor finish.
Fitting the vinyl in the customer’s porch
After printing, the finished floor vinyl was fitted into the customer’s porch by the Printmonster team.
Careful preparation and fitting are important with floor graphics because the vinyl needs to sit correctly on the intended surface.
Handling the artwork, printing and fitting as one project also meant we could take the job from the customer’s original specification through to the completed installation.

Once fitted, the printed design completely changed the appearance of the entrance area.
Rather than treating the floor as a plain background, the customer had a design created specifically for the space.
