Information to include on your stationery

Information to include on your stationery

Apart from your company name and address, include all telephone landline numbers, fax machine number, email address and website address, if applicable. It's also advisable to include mobile phone numbers, especially on business cards, and even home telephone numbers, depending on the nature of the business.
There are also a number of legal requirements, depending on the type of business you run.
There is no requirement for sole traders to register a business name. They can trade under their own names or choose a different business name. However, if as a sole trader you choose something other than your own name for the business, you must include your own name and the business address on all business letters, orders and receipts. Invoices must state your VAT registration number if applicable.
Partnerships must state on letters, orders, invoices and receipts the names of all partners and the address of the principal office or alternatively indicate where a list of partners may be inspected. Invoices must state your VAT registration number if applicable.
Limited companies must show on letters and order forms (paper and electronic versions) the name of the company, the place of registration, the company registration number, the address of the registered office and the address of its place of business, if different. If the company is being wound up this fact must also be stated. There is no need to list the names of the company directors. However, if you choose to do so, you must list all names. Invoices must show at least the company name and VAT number if applicable. In the case of a limited company that is exempt from using the word "limited" in its name, it must state the fact that it is a limited company.

Colour

Colour

Your monitor, camera, scanner will produce images combining three colours;Red, Green and Blue,
an RGB image.

Printing uses four colours, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, CMYK
So your image will need to be converted from RGB to CMYK, software like Photoshop can do this.
Either you can do this or ask us to.

Remember, although you have converted to CMYK, your monitor is still only able to produce colours using RGB - when we print there will be a variation in the colour.

Images

Images

The image you supply may look fine on screen, but when enlarged can be blurred and broken up.

Scan images at 300dpi and save as a Tiff. Gif and Jpeg actually discards information leading to poor reproduction. Zoom in on the image, make sure it looks good.

Convert your image to CMYK, we can still print RGB artwork but the colours may change.

Red and green dotted lines

The red dotted line represents the edge of the final product.Uploaded background images can be placed beyond this to give full bleed.

The green dotted line represents the safe zone, you cannot place anything other than a background image beyond this line

Supplying your own artwork

Supplying your own artwork

When you send your own design to us there are a few things to remember, firstly - Don t Panic!

Make sure that your artwork is correctly sized - sending artwork set to print on Letter sized paper and asking us to print on A4 will not work.

If you require printing to the edge of the page we will need 5mm of bleed

Try not to use boarders, machines have tolerances and just 0.5mm movement can make a border look lopsided.

Light tints can be difficult to reproduce - try not to use any colour at less than 10%

Images are scanned at 300dpi and saved as Tiff

All linked or placed TIFF or EPS files are supplied

All fonts are supplied

Supply a hard copy - we need to know what it is meant to look like

If in doubt - please ask
